Admissions Process

It is wonderful to hear so many families say that they are bowled over by the warmth of the welcome that they receive at the Old Vicarage School, as soon as they enter our gates. We are here to help you through the school admission process, whether your child joins us in Nursery or further on through the school. Whilst many children join us at the start of an academic year, we accept school admission throughout the year and find that, due to our size and buddy programme, children settle very quickly and confidently into school life.

If you would like to discuss any aspect of the school admission process or Nursery applications please do not hesitate to contact Miss Zoe Smedley on 01332 557130 or email secretary@oldvicarageschool.co.uk.

Step 1 – Make an enquiry

Complete our online enquiry form or email secretary@oldvicarageschool.co.uk. We can then collect the necessary details about your family and advise you on the availability of spaces in your child/children’s year group(s).

Step 2 – Visit the School

We will arrange a personal tour of the school for you to see OVS action, speak to the children and meet the staff. You will meet the Head of School, Mrs Kerry Wise, and have the opportunity to tell us more about your child(ren).

Step 3 – Registration and Taster Session

Once you have decided that OVS is the best place for your child we hope that you will register for a place with us. This may mean joining the waiting list if the year group is currently full. Once registered and there is a place available, we will invite your child to join us for a taster session. For children joining in Nursery and Reception we will carry out informal observations. For Years 1-6 we carry out an age appropriate assessment as part of the day. We also request a copy of your child’s most recent report.

Step 4 – Offer and Acceptance of a Place

After we have made an offer and you have accepted it we will keep in regular contact with you, inviting you to school events throughout the year and meet and greet sessions for all parents at the start of each academic year.
