The Old Vicarage School Celebrates 75 Years 1933 – 2008
Situated behind attractive wrought iron with gold etched gates somewhat further back from the street and the stately pine trees that line the drive is the Old Vicarage School.
You could almost walk up or down Church Lane in Darley Abbey Village and nearly miss it spaciously nestled between the lovely large residential homes. Our independent school is not only prestigious in and of its own right, but maintains a wonderful past history and is flourishing as it proceeds to further enhance both its past and present.
The Walter Evens family, towards the end of the nineteenth century built this impressive Victorian building. Original fireplaces, floors and lighting fixtures continue to enhance the entrance hall, staircase and hallways, whilst the wooden floors gleam over footprints from another era. The walls are now adorned with pictures, both new and old, trophies, children's incredible artwork as well as yearly school photographs which include all students, head teachers and staff.
Striving to maintain a community within a community is another of The Old Vicarage School faculty's ambitions and thus far this has been attained. Many parents participate in organising school events including fund raising and celebrations with such dedication that the school, has become as one, as a family of people who truly care and willingly choose to give freely of their time, effort and support. Producing special gatherings when we spend time together a bond of camaraderie with warm ambiances of fun filled delight, our celebratory dinners with delicious menus have crowded dance floors all evening.
In 2008 our school community embraces three special celebrations we are producing to mark our monumental anniversary reached of 75 years educating hundreds of unique children aged from 3 to 11 years who have blossomed whilst sharing their young life's with the marvellous experiences held within the walls of our school. Our students leave having grown and flourished in to confident, capable and caring children having much to offer their senior school and life's ahead.
